When is it too early to sign up for a race?
I am sure I have never signed up for a race a year in advance. But the invitation to sign up before public entry opens in 2 weeks was just too, hmmm… what.. is… the… word… ah… inviting.
So, I am officially signed up for the London Bupa 10,000 in 2013.
Note to self: bring a bottle of water on the course! 🙂
Some of the fun things I forgot to mention in my race report on Sunday:
The elite runners passed us on their return as we hit the 2k mark… It was pretty fun seeing them. When I saw them there were 5 in the leader group. Mo Farah won the race for the fourth time. I am looking forward to maybe seeing him at the Olympics, but I may not (unless I get athletics tickets miraculously…). But if I don’t get tickets, I’ll cheer him on from my TV!
- We all ran pretty much the course of the 2012 Olympics Marathon (with very minor alterations). So I can proudly claim I pretty much ran the Olympics Marathon course (during the marathon, runners will have to run the loop several times).
- For those of you not living in London, you may want to hear that this course runs by some great London landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral, along the Embankment with view of the London Eye, past Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, along Green Park and finishing on the Mall with view of Buckingham Palace. Not a shabby route.
- One thing to work on… official photos. Just looked at mine and I look like a whale… S and I forgot to take a finisher’s friends photo right after the race. Note to self, don’t rely on official photos.
So, enough reasons to run again and sign up early! And plenty of smiling faces around that made this fun to run.
Keep running happy!
