London Marathon – how to get a charity place

As I said in my post yesterday about how not to get a place in the London Marathon, I am not looking for a charity place for the London Marathon, but nonetheless I came across this website yesterday that pairs up runners with charities. (I think fate is tempting me here)

JustGiving recently launched a charity clearing house that matches runners with charities. The web page – find a London Marathon charity place – shows plenty of charities, how many race entries they have left and what the minimum fundraising is to get a London Marathon place through the respective charity.

This is a great idea by JustGiving. I hope they’ll extend on this for other races in the future, but now, all of you who want to get into the London Marathon, go check it out: http://www.justgiving.com/en/marathon-places

Happy Wednesday and Good Luck!

  1. That’s a great idea for those looking for a charity place. Someone was telling me about a charity that manages the sponsorship target by allowing the runner to pre-pay it on a monthly basis by direct debit – I think that’s such a good idea!

I remember seeing those landmark runners when I was spectating at the London Marathon this year – what dedication to go 26.2 miles in those costumes! I doubt I’d last the .2 !

    • That sounds like a great idea for those who may pay the charity entry through their own means. I am with you on costume running… I am happy that I reach the finish line without a costumer. Running in a costume is true dedication!
