A running quiz

I saw this post – a running quiz – recently on the Hungry Runner Girl blog and again on Molly’s blog. My running buddies have left me – temporarily only I hope – running alone lately, so no one to trade running stories with. Hence, I thought I’d involve you all in this discussion and hopefully one or two of you faithful readers may play along? 🙂

1. FUEL: Shot Bloks, GU, Energy Chews, Candy or Other?

Strawberry/Banana & Peanut Butter Gu

2. Race Length: 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathon, Marathon, Ultra or Other?

Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 – around mile 25 with my coach. Definitely half marathons are the way to go!

3. Workout Bottoms: Skirts, Running Shorts, Capris, Pants or Other?

Running skirts! Capris when it gets colder.

4. Sports Drink: Gatorade, Powerade, Cytomax, you stick to water when you run or Other?

Good ol’ water! Gaterode or Powerade sometimes after the race, but at that point I prefer chocolate milk. Tried Cytomax once and it made me sick during the race. Needless to say that was the last time I tried it…

5. Running Temperatures: HEAT or COLD?

Tough one. I love both.

6. Running Shoe Brands: Suacony, Mizuno, Nike, Brookes, Asics or Other?

Asics Nimbus Gel – tried and mud-tested

7. Pre-race meal: Oatmeal, Bagel, Banana, Eggs, Cereal or Other?

Pre-race usually a bagel as I can get one pretty much everywhere. At home before a long run, I eat oatmeal with a banana.

8. Rest Days: 1x per week, 2x per week, never ever ever or Other?

About 3 rest days per week. I might be walking though or do some other type of exercise.

9. Music: Have to have it or go without it?

In the gym definitely with music. Outside never ever. I would miss all the fun stuff going on around me.

10. #1 reason for running: stress-relief, endorphins, you love to race, so you can eat all the cupcakes you want, weight-loss, love running for social reasons or Other?

Sometimes I run even if the medal is a mug…

For the medals! 🙂 Stress relief, happiness, socializing (only that my running buddies left me temporarily), annual fundraising.

  1. Definitely no Cytomax for me 🙂 I’m also the exact same with #9. When running outside I really like without music and love taking in the sounds around me.

    • I used to run with music, but stopped about 4 years ago and then suddenly noticed how much I was missing around me. I wasn’t even paying attention to the colors of the spring or fall around me or the animals. There is so much to explore on a run. 🙂
