Today is my favorite holiday!
I didn’t grow up in the US and I didn’t grow up with the tradition of Thanksgiving holidays, but I embraced it with all my heart during the time I lived in the US. I have been blessed with great friends who invited me to their family celebrations and it is something that I will forever cherish.
In Germany (where I grew up), we do have the tradition of harvest festivals and the tradition of giving thanks for our daily food and the harvest. We do not though have a family holiday around this season.
Because I love this holiday so much I have started my own tradition of saying Thanks on this day. There is a lot I am grateful for.
I am grateful that I have the opportunities to travel and learn about great traditions like Thanksgiving holidays.
I am grateful for all my friends who have welcomed me into their lives and homes and shared their special holidays.
I am grateful for my family who embraces my traveling life even though that means I don’t get to see them as much as I would if I had stayed in Germany.
I am grateful for my health and the health and well-being of my family and friends.
I am grateful that I live in a country at peace, where there is no hunger and clean water for everyone.
There is so much to be thankful for and I hope that each of you have your own tradition of saying Thanks at some point during the year and count your bliss. Very often we get too involved in our personal disappointments that we forget to look at the bigger picture of our life.
We are blessed! Thank you!
