Jaime nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you, Jamie! If you haven’t read Jamie’s blog yet, please go and check it out here:

versatile-blogger_thumbVersatile Blogger Rules (if you choose to obey them):

  1. Announce your win with a post and link to the person who presented your award.
  2. Display the Award Certificate on your website.
  3. Present up to 15 awards to deserving bloggers.
  4. Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post.
  5. Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

Another seven interesting things about me:

  1. I broke a toe when I was 12.
  2. I broke my nose when I was 16.
  3. I broke my foot this week.
  4. I have a dodgy ankle that makes running on trails “interesting”.
  5. I probably broke my little toes at some point or others as I run into things all the time.
  6. For the years since I have started running long distances I have been far less sick than ever.
  7. None of my injuries have come from running. Let’s keep it that way! Actually, I have one injury from running. A few years ago, I fell full on to the ground as I was running. I must have stumbled over something. I got asphalt burn. I am telling you THAT hurt like crazy! I still have a scar on my arm.

My nominations of great bloggers:

Award #1 – another star for 2012

It was last year. I confess. It has taken me a while to respond to this award. First of all Thank You to Renee at for honoring me with my third star.  I very much appreciate the gesture!

Blog of the Year Award 3 star thumbnailI don’t know though what to do with this award since it is now 2013. I don’t really want to pass on and old award, but here is what I think would give this award a full meaning.

Let me share with you my favorite blogs and bloggers from 2012. I started blogging on WordPress in 2012 with my running blog. I have since retired this blog and moved over to this blog – the one you are just reading. However, as I started out last year, these were the bloggers and blogs that inspired me and kept me engaged with blogging.

Thank you for your inspiration!

Blog of the Year 2012 Awards x2

A huge Thank You to Lynn – views from my world and Renee – positive boomer – for nominating me for the Blog of the Year 2012 Award.

I feel very humbled and grateful that you find my blog noteworthy. I am very happy to pass this award on to fellow bloggers. It is not an easy task to select just a few. There are so many kind blogs out there that make me smile or give me a pause in this busy life of ours. I am very grateful for all of you bloggers!

And here are the rules:

Blog of the Year Award 2 star thumbnail1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join the award’s Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience if you choose to

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

There are so many blogs worthy of this award. You are under no obligation when you are nominated. If you don’t “do” awards, please accept this as a compliment.

Random things about me and Awards

I have been blessed with a number of awards these past few weeks and I will try my very best to honor them in this post. Thank you to all of you who read my blog. I’ll be answering some selected questions from each of these awards.

A big Thank You to Ute for nominating for the Sunshine Award. I love the sound of it: SUNSHINE Award. We can never have too much sunshine in our lives.

What is your favorite time of day? Early mornings when it’s still quiet and the world opens up for miracles.

What is your favorite holiday? I love adventures that include seeing and experience the nature and the wonders of the world as well as meeting people from all over the world.

What is your favorite flower? A single rose.

What is your passion? I struggle with this question. I think my passion is to learn what I can do to make this world a better place and keep on finding and moving along this path.

Another big Thank You to Cathie for nominating for the Super Sweet Blogging Award.

This one comes with a picture of cupcakes. I love cupcakes.

Cookie or cake? Cupcake, to be precise: carrot cupcake. 🙂

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate unless it’s Mexican Vanilla.

What is your favorite sweet treat? I have a sweet tooth (or a whole bunch of them really…). In my top 2 are definitely carrot cupcakes and peanut butter and Nutella gelato.

Another big Thank You to Ute who nominated me for 2 more awards: The Beautiful Blogger Award and the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. If you haven’t yet checked out Ute’s blog I highly recommend you do. Her blog gives me inspiration every day to be the best that I can be.

Random things about me:

My favorite book is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. My second favorite book  is Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. Both books are about adventure and courage to follow your passion, but very different. Love them.

I have always loved taking photos and I have created scrapbooks since my early teenage years. Going digital has created a huge problem for me as I take way too many photos and now have difficulties keeping up with organizing them… LOL.

I work from home and I actually don’t like it. Most people are surprised to hear that, but it’s very hard to build and keep professional relationships when you only interact on the phone and email.

I secretly (well, it’s not that secret…) love Formula 1 and I watched Sebastian Vettel win this year’s championship on Sunday (on TV only… no time to go to Brazil…).

I have lived and worked in several countries and moved around frequently. You will be surprised to hear that – even today – when I tell about where I have lived and worked, people ask me, “That’s amazing. What does your husband do to allow you to move around that much?” I am single, have never been married and have created all my opportunities for myself by myself. And I am proud of it!

Let’s get on with nominating other bloggers. I don’t know who to nominate for which award, so I’ll let you pick one or four awards that you like. There are so many great bloggers out there and I will most certainly miss one or the other so please consider this list work in progress and in no particular order. What you should really do, is consider this list a recommended reading list. 🙂 These are all very inspiring blogs!
